The Moen 12 inch grab bars are nice looking, and sturdy. My husband installed 2 of these in my mom’s shower, and she is happy with them. It took him less than an hour to install them. Use Moen SMA1000CH anchor mounts with this bar.

When we remodeled the shower in 2009, I did not install a grab bar. As we have aged, I have become concerned with safety. We installed the 16″ Moen grab bar on the side wall of the shower at a distance of 36 inches in height. We like the safety grab bar so much, that we have ordered a 12 inch bar to be installed vertically for when you enter and exit the shower. W found many more expensive grab bars, but the bar on many extended beyond the mount. My concern was that the 2 inch protruding bar could catch something. The Moen bar is well made and easily installed with diamond drill bits and the anchor bolts.

Moen is the standard on these kinds of grab bars. These are attractive and solid. This model mounts directly to the wall, with many options for your fasteners/screws. This is not the model where you mount the plates first.I had some trouble getting the faceplate loose.

I did not install this myself; I had a contractor I was using for my powder room reno attach it for me. Although I didn’t watch him secure it, he did it quickly, so have to assume it was not difficult to do. It’s a perfect size — not too large or too long, and not too short or too narrow. I highly recommend this product!
