Nice, reliable night lights that only go on when you need them and have a red-tinted light so are less disturbing to a sleepy brain. The second time I bought some, they won’t go on. It turns out there’s an easy re-set, that I learned from the manufacturer:1. Using brand new batteries from the same pack, per light. (meaning the batteries in one unit are all from the same new pack) We recommend Energizer or Rayovac batteries.2. Insert the batteries with the flat side (negative) of the battery to the spring of the unit.3. Place the light in a well lit room with the sensor facing the light for 10 minutes, then in a dark and motionless room for 10 full minutes to reset the sensors.4. Test the light in a dark room to make sure it activates in the dark. (Due to the photocell sensor the unit will not activate in a well lit area)worked perfectly for me.

Bought to light the path for my 97 yo mother when she’s up at night. The light is soft and does not stay on for too long. It also is very sensitive and turns on when triggered. Would purchase again.

We found this light to work very well. It correctly turns on when there’s motion (entering the room) and does not activate when there’s already sufficient light in the room. When it turns on it remains on for 13 seconds after all motion stops, which is very good. In our experience the light lasts for 6 months on a set of four Energizer Max AA batteries. The plastic case includes an integral rubber gasket sealing the battery compartment. Very nicely done!We use two 3M Velcro type adhesive strips to secure it to the wall rather than screwing it to the wall or using permanent adhesive strips since we’re in a rental unit and didn’t want to mar the wall.We found this light to be so bright (used in the bathroom for night visits) that initially we placed some brown cellophane packing tape on the white reflective surface that the LED lamp uses to bounce the light into the room to provide less illumination. Then, a year later and after consuming two sets of batteries I disassembled the case (4 Philips head screws in the corners) and easily wired in a 100 ohm resister to drop the light output to about 40% of the original brightness (measured using a Lux metering App). Now it seems much better suited to our purpose and (just maybe) the batteries will last even longer! The case provides ample room for such a mod. (See the attached picture.)Overall, a great product and we give it 5 stars.

I was happy to have found this Mr. Beams brand battery powered night light because I enjoyed the previous model I purchased a few years back. The only modification I needed to make, on the previous model, was covering the bright white LED with red spotlight gel. The only quirk the older model had was the light stayed on when the batteries got low. That will be your queue to change the batteries. Alright, time for science class. We all realize certain wavelengths of light effect our circadian clock (internal sleep/wake cycle), and of course, our night vision. As I understand it, any colors you can see in a nighttime bonfire are acceptable. Aircraft pilots use a red lamp for reading charts and maps. Although the Mr. Beams model MB720A is in the amber spectrum, akin to a yellow bug light bulb, I find it much too bright. Even sitting on the floor, this unit will light up a room brighter than you might expect. This new model has a couple of challenges that need overcoming. First off, the unit is not sensitive enough to know when the lights are on, under certain conditions. For instance, it will come on just by casting a shadow while walking in front of a window on a sunny day. You’ll go though lots of AA batteries if you don’t correct this. The previous model had the photoresistor that detects light levels mounted on top, with a prismatic diffuser covering it. It was very sensitive, detected ambient light flawlessly. The MB720A now comes with the photoresistor soldered on the printed circuit board, in the shadow of the PIR (passive infrared sensor), and does not perform well in this location. I like this product well enough to drill a hole for the photoresistor on top of the unit, remove it from the circuit board, extend the leads and glue it in place, like the previous model. The second challenge is the brightness and I have fallen back to my, tried and true, red spotlight gels. The accompanying hardware is not useable on hard surfaces without pre-drilling, although it would be a cinch to attach the mount for this light on soft surfaces like drywall. The mount is adequate enough to hold the light, but realize you will be working with very small screws. 3M adhesive products might make more sense and do just fine. Circuit board manufacturing on the MB720A is much better than previous model. The circuit board is screwed into the case. The prior model was melted in place.

These lights work perfectly on my stairs to the second floor. The cast a lovely subtle light on the steps that won’t blind you in the middle of the night while going downstairs or upstairs. Also, I did not attach them in any way so that I may move them to where ever I would like. I am very happy with this purchase.

We needed something for our bathroom at night and I wanted something motion detected. This has a nice, soft light. It turns on easily and stays on 30 seconds before turning off. It’s the perfect hue for middle of the night bathroom breaks. I’m getting a few more for early morning getting ready while my husband sleeps.

I put this in my bathroom so that I wouldn’t have to turn on the lights in the middle of the night. This produces just the right amount of soft amber light and I love that it has a sensor so it only turns on in the pitch black when you walk into the room.

    They work
Expensive but they work very well, lighting up dark stairs.

    Motion and brightness is great
First delivery was sent back due to damaged boxing but another came super quick and it was easy to set up (unscrew, our batteries and you’re done) brightness is good. Lights the whole washroom but isn’t blinding and the motion sensor even up high works great.Update: I bought this June 9th. It’s September 15th and the energizer batteries I put in the first day is still going. They’re almost dead but the batteries last a long time. I love this little light.
